For Students

There are several ways for students to get involved with the Athena Film Festival. Below is a list of opportunities that we currently offer or will offer in the future.

Volunteer at the Festival
Volunteering at the festival is the easiest and quickest way to get involved. The Athena Film Festival depends on the support of our community, attendees, and volunteers. From individual and in-kind donors to corporate sponsors to volunteers, we appreciate everyone’s commitment to the mission of our festival. For more information about volunteering and to sign up, click here.

Athena Crew Jobs
The Athena Film Festival at Barnard College hires Athena Crewmembers to join us each year. The jobs range from Box Office Staff to Ticket takers! See last year’s posting here to understand what each job entails. Postings for the 2024 festival will be posted in late December.

 Athena Film Festival Programming Fellowship
The Athena Film Festival Programming Fellowship was created in 2022 as an opportunity to develop the next generation of film festival programmers. This is a learning and career development Fellowship opportunity for individuals passionate about festival programming and women’s leadership. Through this Fellowship, you will deepen your understanding of how to review and consider film festival submissions. Working with the Athena Film Festival Post-Baccalaureate Fellow and Programmers, you will develop a multi-faceted Festival program that speaks to Athena’s mission of showcasing diverse, powerful stories of women’s leadership, focusing on the short film line-up.  To learn more about this fellowship, click here.
