The Loreen Arbus Fellowship for the AFF Writers Lab

In partnership with The Loreen Arbus Foundation, to provide support for two screenwriters with disabilities to attend the Athena Writers Lab. This Fellowship includes ongoing mentorship for 6 months and funding to ensure all lab activities are fully accessible.

Chronic Elle by Cheryl Meyer (episodic)
After Elle, a tenacious woman in her thirties, develops a mysterious chronic illness, her pain manifests as a high-maintenance, nihilistic apparition, disrupting every facet of her life. In this reverse-buddy comedy series, Elle is willing to try absolutely anything that might pacify her pain – a fussy, finicky, and fragile version of herself that follows her everywhere. These two frenemies have no option but to learn how to coexist, because chronic pain’s friendship is forever.

Ripe by Melanie Ojwang (episodic)
RUTH, DENISE, KIM and MIA debate over how to best handle the growing HOA fines, caused by Kim’s son TRE, and Mia’s weekend plans to host a sorority brunch. On the day of the brunch the stress of placating the sorority sisters combined with handling Tre’s disruption boils over when Denise reveals she’s sleeping with Tre. Kim storms out but in the aftermath, the four housemates realize how happier they are as a unit.
