The Athena Film Festival at Barnard College is committed to creating an accessible festival environment for people with disabilities. Below is an outline of the steps we took this year to create an accessible festival:
Closed Caption Films
A number of films at the Athena Film Festival had closed captioning available. There was a section on our website which details the feature films that had captioning available. For short films, if closed captioning was available, it was indicated on the film page.
All pre-recorded events had closed captioning available.
Live Captioning
Live captioning was available for all streaming Q&As, Panels, and Conversations.
Subtitled Films
All foreign-language films were screened in their original language with English subtitles.
Discounted Tickets Available for Students
For students of any age, we offered discounted tickets to all of our films and shorts programs. They could email support@athenafilmfestival.com to request a promo code for student tickets.
All panels and conversations were and remain free and available for everyone via the Athena Film Festival YouTube page.
Visual
The Athena Film Festival website was optimized for screen readers.
Venue Accessibility
All venues at the Athena Film Festival were wheelchair accessible.
If you have any questions on our accessibility measures, or would like to request a future accommodation, please contact us via email at kmolloy@barnard.edu.
