What does it mean when a film says “Expired”?
Please note that all of the films and programs in the festival have different availability windows. You can see the date that a film or program will be available on the poster anywhere the film is displayed on the site. To view the date that a film will stop being available, click on the poster for that film or program. The full availability window will be listed on the film page right above the synopsis. Please note that at 11:59pm EST on the end date listed, the film will no longer be viewable even if you are in the middle of watching.
Once you press play on a title you will have 48 hours to complete viewing, similar to when renting a film on Amazon or iTunes. We highly recommend that you do not press play on anything unless you will be able to finish viewing the film within that rental window. If you were unable to complete your viewing within the 48 hours please contact us using the support chat or by email at email@example.com.
If a film says “(No Longer Available)” in the title, the screening window has passed for that title and we are no longer screening the film.
I’m a passholder, why am I being asked to purchase a ticket?
If you’re seeing the option to purchase a ticket for a film as a passholder, the first thing to do is check to make sure that you’re logged in. You can log into your account by selecting the “Sign In” button in the top right corner of the page. Once you’re logged into your account you will see a button that says “Play Now” in place of the purchase button.
If you are logged in to your account and you’re seeing the purchase button on a film you have already watched, it’s because your 48-hour rental window has expired and you no longer have access to the film. If you were unable to finish the film within your rental window please drop us a message in the chatbox on the bottom of the screen or at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will extend your window.
For more information on the rental and availability windows for films, please see the question above.

What’s different about the 2021 Athena Film Festival at Barnard College?
Thanks to the incredible and generous support of our community, the 11th annual Athena Film Festival will take place virtually throughout the month of March 2021. We’ve partnered with Shift72 in order to bring the Athena Film Festival to our audience.
This year, we will bring you a dynamic, virtual experience that amplifies what we do really well here at Athena: showcase great films and build community. Throughout March we’ll be bringing you the best films about remarkable women, so we can all reimagine what leadership looks like. Then, we’ll gather around these films and host conversations that transcend the screen and help us investigate how to translate this transformative leadership to our own lives.
Since we can’t volunteer in person, are there other ways we can help out this year?
Yes, the best way to help us out is to help spread the word via social media. Share our posts, send them to your friends, family, and classmates. You can also organize a virtual watch party for one of our screenings. Just because we can’t be in person, doesn’t mean we can’t share the experiences of the festival!
