It took 82 years for a woman to win an Oscar for best director. Even in the past decade, women have had less than 30 percent of the speaking roles in films. In an effort to break this mold, the Athena Film Festival is showcasing several feature films, documentaries and shorts that celebrate women in all countries and cultures and in both real and fictional worlds. The festival will focus on women as leaders, including what it takes to excel, lead and inspire.
