The Athena Film Festival, in partnership with various organizations, offers multiple fellowships to emerging storytellers working on women-centric scripts. Recipients are provided with mentorship and guidance to help them advance their projects and careers to the next level.
The Alfred P. Sloan Writing Fellowship
In partnership with the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, this fellowship supports selected writers working on feature-length and episodic scripts that focus on women in STEM who will or have participated in the Athena Film Festival Writers Lab. Through the fellowship, writers are paired with mentors who will provide both creative support and STEM support over a period of 6-months.
The Loreen Arbus Fellowship for the AFF Writers Lab
In partnership with The Loreen Arbus Foundation. This fellowship will provide support for two screenwriters with disabilities to attend the Athena Writers Lab. This Fellowship will include a travel stipend (for in-person lab), ongoing mentorship for 6 months following the conclusion of the lab, and funding to ensure all lab activities are fully accessible.
The AMC Networks Athena Emerging Writers Fellowship
The “AMC Networks Athena Emerging Writers Fellowship” will award a $10,000 grant to a writer working on a woman-centered television project in the Athena Film Festival Writers Lab, along with a writers’ room experience at AMC Networks on an upcoming series.
