In 2022, the Athena Film Festival Writers Lab will be back in person, March 14-16, on the Barnard campus in Morningside Heights. Traditionally focused on writers for film, this year we’ve expanded our New York lab to include spots for television writers as well
The Writers Lab provides women and non-binary storytellers with creative feedback, pitch training, and a robust supportive network. The Lab also includes a keynote conversation from an established filmmaker as well as industry events where participants will learn how to navigate their careers in film and TV.
Applicants can either submit a screenplay or a TV pilot, and the project must include a woman (or women) in a leadership role or position at the center of the story.
Submissions are open from November 17, 2021 – January 7, 2022. We look forward to reading your scripts!
