Stop Telling Women to Smile

The film highlights an art series by Tatyana Fazlalizadeh, that addresses gender-based street harassment by placing portraits of women, complete with captions that speak directly to offenders, in outdoor public spaces.

Filmmakers Dean Peterson (Stop Telling Women to Smile); Leslie von Pless (Flying Solo), and Rachel Goldberg (Muted, Rosita Lopez for President) will join the audience following the Shorts Program.

Filmmaker Bio:
Dean Peterson’s debut feature film, Incredibly Small, premiered at the Raindance Film Festival and went on to play at over 20 festivals worldwide. Has has made a number of short films that have been featured in the NY Times, The Huffington Post, and on CNN. He lives in Brooklyn with his fiance and his cat.
