Filmmaker bio: Elizabeth Beecherl and Carla Patullo make films in Los Angeles, CA as the collaborative Trick Studio. Elizabeth is a director and a designer who has worked on projects and installations published in The New York Times, Dwell, and many other design publications. She started making films after watching Lotte Reiniger’s 1922 Cinderella and falling in love with silhouette animation. Carla is a director and a composer who records and performs live as White Widow. Her scores have received numerous awards including Global Music Awards, a Music and Sound Award nomination, and multiple HMMA nominations. She recently completed the 2018 Sundance Film Music fellowship. Elizabeth and Carla are currently collaborating on two separate feature-length documentaries about women.
