
Beatrice Vio was 12 when she had her four limbs amputated due to complications from meningitis. Yet nothing can stop her from pursuing the sport she loves and becoming a world fencing champion at the age of 19.

Filmmaker Bio:
Lorena Alvarado is a filmmaker and multidisciplinary creative. Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Lorena grew up in a city of contradictions, more fantastical and surreal than any magic realist novel. In 2009 she moved to Boston where she received a B.A in Media and Film Studies in Emerson College. In 2015 she was awarded a fellowship at Fabrica Research Center in Treviso, Italy, where she worked as a filmmaker in the Social Campaigns department. At Fabrica, she directed video campaigns for the United Nations and the Benetton Women Empowerment Program.
