Workshops for Filmmakers

In these very difficult times, filmmakers and writers are struggling to find the financial resources to make their films. Creating films by and about women, particularly women in leadership roles, is even more difficult. This workshop will bring producers, writers, and financiers together to provide insights and expertise on a variety of topics related to film production: how to find the right person to read your script, how to find financing, ways to secure a director, and many other tips to ensure that your idea moves from the page to the big screen.

Panelists Include:
Susan Cartsonis, producer – Beastly, What Women Want
Nekisa Cooper, producer – Pariah
Lisa Cortes, producer – Precious

Building an Audience in the Digital Age

Whether you make a film for $1,000 or a $1 million you want it to be seen. But, the film business is changing rapidly. No longer are distribution deals with major studios the only way to ensure an audience. There are many distribution methods: from video on demand to online streaming to the traditional brick and mortar theatre. But how do you decide what is right for your film? And once you have chosen a method (or several methods) of distribution, how can you make sure that people know about your film? Learn from distribution, marketing and outreach experts about the ever-changing landscape and how to figure out what will work best for you.

Panelists Include:
Caitlin Boyle, Film Sprout
Adella Ladjevardi, Cinereach
Stephanie Sharis, Snag Films
Paula Silver, Beyond the Box Productions
